Join us for the launch of this important new book with performances and readings by some of the writers featured. There will be readings from our facilitating artists from the course Amina Atiq, Natalie Denny and Blue Saint.”

Hear Me Now Volume Two Book Lauch

So here's a bit of writing related news! ✍🏾📚✍🏾

Our Director, Natalie Denny, was involved in #HearMeNow Volume Two and two of my monologues will be published alongside others with Bloomsbury publishing and will be published on 25th August 2022.

It was a great experience working with talented actors to create interesting characters. Here's a little about the book!

"Hear Me Now, Volume Two is a unique collection of over 80 original audition monologues, expressly created by a range of writers including Vera Chok, Josh-Susan Enright and Bea Webster, brought together by producer Titilola Dawudu and Tamasha Theatre Company. They are ideal for actors of colour searching for speeches for auditions or training, writers, teachers, and theatre-makers who are passionate about improving diversity."

"The volume is introduced by BAFTA-nominated actor Ashley Madekwe, and will also feature a section on Top Tips for auditioning from Tamasha and a host of actors, including Ted Lasso's Kevin 'KG' Garry and Cherrelle Skeete of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

"Following on from the successful first volume, and featuring a variety of themes, scenes and characters, Hear Me Now, Volume Two is an essential tool for actors of colour to showcase their range, and seeks to inspire, empower, and create a legacy for generations to come."

Very excited for the book launch!

The Female Forum - Creativity

Skywriters will be attending The Female Forum event.

The Liverpool Literacy Cycle began in 2020 with the Year of Reading followed by 2021 Year of Writing and currently 2022 Year of Spoken Word.

The LYOSW aims to engage local communities during 2022 with the creative processes involved in performance, acting, storytelling, song writing, speaking confidently, debating, serious conversation and light radio chat. Activities throughout the year have ranged from speaking and performance opportunities, workshops, expert and peer to peer advice, the development of oracy skills, open mic poetry, regular events and annual festivals. We currently have a network of over 180 partners sharing information and generating ideas to improve literacy in the city.

The Female Forum was launched on International Women’s Day as a discussion circle to provide a neutral safe space to give women an opportunity to talk and explore broad themes and the impact of those themes on their sense of self and wellbeing. The second forum was held in June on the theme of POWER and was uplifting for all participants.

The third Female Forum at 5.30pm on Tuesday 6th September will have the theme: Creativity. The format of the forum is a circle of conversation for approximately 12 to 15 women with an audience of listeners. The conversation will start at 6pm. We are hoping to record the conversation so it can be made available as a podcast at a later date.

The Inclusion Exchange with Joseph Harker and Bakare Barley Ltd

On Thursday our Director, Natalie Denny, is hosting The Inclusion Exchange with @bakarebarleyltd The Inclusion Exchange is a new webinar and podcast series which forms part of Bakare Barley's free resource offering. It aims to create a platform for EDI experts to exchange experiences, challenges and trends with the shared objective of creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. The series will offer tangible takeaways that can be used personally and across organisational cultures.

The Inclusion Exchange - Thursday 21st July 2022 12-1pm (BST)

Topic: “Transforming workplace cultures through positive action”

For the first Inclusion Exchange, we’ll be exploring how different groups experience the workplace in different ways, and how concepts such as inclusion, equity, equality and Positive Action can generate initiatives that can transform how we reach and retain talent from ‘nontraditional’ backgrounds.

On the agenda:

· Joseph Harker will share his personal journey from Editor and Publisher of Black Briton, Assistant Editor of The Voice, to Senior Editor, Diversity and Development at the Guardian.

· An exploration of the different barriers and experiences that can restrict diversity and inclusion.

· Spotlight on initiatives and approaches to advance equity and inclusion

· Personal challenges in doing this work, and opportunities for organisations that want to make progress to be more inclusive and equitable.
